“What is happening to my brain?” is the question asked to us by our 12 year old son while the new (yet to be officially named) kitten laid on his chest. He couldn’t get over how tiny she was. And how cute. And how soft. She’s literally a ball of adorable.
In last weeks video you may have seen me and the girls visit a local animal shelter. Neko Shelter is a doing amazing work here in Shanghai and stays open by donations only. Our kitten was free to adopt and her medicine for her eyes was given to us. The only thing we will need to pay for is her spay surgery sometime in the near future.
So yeah, the cats name… any suggestions? We are leaning towards Ivy. We love the name Birdie because she perches on your knee a lot, but it is too close to our middle daughters name Berkli. So that might get confusing.
“Here Birdie Birdie Birdie”
“Yeah mom?”
Some people suggested something to do with Shanghai, but we have already had a hamster with the name Pearl (it would be for The Pearl tower in Pudong.) Also as I type this I just realized hamster doesn’t have a P? Why do we say it with one then? Or is that just me… oops.
Our other cat Italy is warming up SLOOOWLY. She actually ate with her nearby today and that is a win. But she is still hissing at her and just staring daggers at her. We kept them separate for about 2 days but then the kitten just couldn’t stay downstairs any longer and made her presence known a few days ago. We are on day 5 so we are hopeful things will work out.
I also wanted to touch base and let you all know that the next Youtube video will go out a little later than usual. I am going to reshape my upload schedule to allow me more time to edit through the week. I was getting so stressed out because I would film over the weekend and then edit Monday and upload Tuesday. It gave me hives. Ok, no only bananas do that but it was still not fun.
Therefore the new upload day will thus commence on Friday…or Thursday. I haven’t decided yet. Either way it feels good to say that.
Now about that kitty name…
I like Ivy. Birdie is sweet too. You can always make “Shanghai” a last name.
